about

In the summer of 1981 I began to collect sounds naturally produced by the elements of our planet: minerals, plants, animals, biochemical and electromagnetic systems. At the time I used a Superscope cassette recorder with two Sony microphones and other sensors. During the summer of 2002 I started a new project: to collect the sounds emitted by the trees. I used a digital recorder connected to two self-built independent piezoelectric microphones, in contact with branches and leaves; the result therefore is not stereo in the classical sense, but composed of two synchronous and consistent monophonic recordings. Each recording is characterized by two actors: the tree mentioned in the title, and the wind, without which input no sound would have been generated. No effects have been added in post-production.
